William Lang is the Chief Underwriting Officer for Starr Marine. Starr Marine has been a leading global provider of ocean marine products and services for over 75 years.
His current responsibilities include developing and executing business/marketing plans for the Cargo, Hull and Marine Liabilities lines of business, as well as implementing and monitoring underwriting mandates for this business. Before assuming his current position, he held a number of senior underwriting positions in our Home Office as the Cargo line of business manager 2003 – 2009 and in the New York Region for Starr Marine from 1984–2003, culminating in the position of Regional Manager.
Prior to joining Starr, Lang worked in various underwriting roles at the Insurance Company of North America from 1976-1984. His career in insurance spans over a period of approximately 44 years and he has been an active participant in industry organizations including serving on the Cargo Committee of the American Institute of Marine Underwriters and participating as a guest lecturer at industry functions.
He has a BBA degree from the College of Insurance and has completed course work in Ocean Marine Insurance. Lang holds resident Broker and Agents licenses from the State of New York and non-resident licenses from various other states.
