Rahul is the Global Head of Marine Risk Consulting at Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS). Based in New York he leads a global team of marine risk consultants who support the marine underwriting function at Allianz in risk selection and loss prevention of their marine portfolio.

Rahul is a qualified master mariner who has spent 14 years at sea sailing on oil tankers, bulk carriers and Oil bulk Ore (OBO) carriers and sailed as a captain for the last few years trading worldwide before coming ashore.

After completing an MSc in Shipping trade and finance with distinction from Cass Business School in London he worked with a leading marine consultancy for around 4 years where he acted as a Marine Warranty Surveyor on large offshore Oil and gas projects and has extensive risk assessment experience working with oil major clients. He carried out numerous casualty investigations providing legal reports to maritime law firms and acted as expert witness in shipping arbitration cases.

Rahul joined Allianz in 2011 as a Senior Risk Consultant and was promoted as Global Head of Marine risk consulting in 2014. In his current role he focuses on risk consulting strategy for the global marine business of AGCS and works with the executive team for portfolio steering of Hull and Cargo business.

He is also member of the IUMI committee on Bid Data and Digitalisation and a ‘Fellow’ of the Nautical institute.
