Randy is a 1983 graduate from NY Maritime College with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology and Oceanography.  Randy took his USNR commission upon graduation and proceeded to sail on his 3rd mates unlimited license.  He advanced his license to C/M unlimited, Master 1,000 tons during his 6+  years.  He then decided to move into shoreside employment where he has been employed by 3 different employers over the last 33 years.

In 2011 Randy retired after 27 years from the USNR at the rank of Commander. In 2015, after moving back from living in Hawaii for 21 years, he now resides in Western NY near where he grew up and he has joined his local Bristol, NY Volunteer Fire Department.   Randy is now a New York State certified interior (Bristol smoke diver) fire fighter with BVFD and is a member of the Ontario County HazMat response team in the Finger Lake region of Western NY.  He lives with his wife of 36 years and has two successful adult sons, and one grandson.
