Responsibilities

Chris is a senior vice president, marine risk engineering & loss control specialist with Aon’s Marine practice. He is responsible for delivery of specialist marine loss control and technical marine broking and consulting expertise to Aon’s clients. 

Experience

Chris joined the Aon NY Marine Practice in December 2019 and brings 17 years of experience as a maritime professional, beginning his career as a naval architect at Babcock International Shipyard, Plymouth, UK. He supported naval nuclear submarine refit, repair and refuel projects in addition to surface vessel repair and maintenance, and large Superyacht construction.

In 2016 Chris joined Starr Companies’ NY Marine Loss Control Services team, and immediately prior to joining Aon, was AVP, Loss Control Manager for Hull and Marine Liabilities. In this role, along with day-to-day responsibilities, Chris oversaw a Safety Management System KPI benchmarking loss prevention program for towing vessel Owners/operators in addition to developing marine terminal, waterfront contractor, shipyard, and marine cargo loss prevention programs.

Prior to this, in 2010 Chris relocated to the US where he joined Martin & Ottaway, Red Bank, NJ as a consultant Naval Architect and Marine Engineering Surveyor. Between 2010 and 2016, Chris’s role and responsibilities included marine claims surveys of blue, brown, and green water vessels, naval architecture expert witness testimony, support of international salvage operations, vessel design and operations, ship appraisals, shipyard JH-143 risk assessments and marine project cargo loss control survey and engineering assessments.

Chris’s naval architecture, marine surveying and specialist loss prevention expertise bring unique and differentiating technical capability to Aon and Aon’s clients. Chris has developed strong and respected relationships with U.S. and international underwriters and their loss prevention teams as a key component of client results delivery and consulting.
