Chris Law joined the Aon NY Marine Practice in December 2019 and brings 15 years of experience as a maritime industry professional. He began his career as a naval architecture graduate at Babcock International’s naval and commercial shipyard Devonport, Plymouth, UK (formerly Devonport Royal Dockyard) in 2006. In his 4 years at the shipyard Chris spent the initial 2 years assigned to nuclear powered submarine refit, repair and refuel projects in addition to working for the structures group and surface ship support. Latterly, Chris joined Babcock’s commercial Superyacht construction division as a project Naval Architect supporting the detailed design and construction of VaVa II, a 330ft, Lloyds Register Classed Superyacht.
In 2010 Chris relocated to the US where he joined Martin & Ottaway, Red Bank, NJ as a consultant Naval Architect and Marine Engineering Surveyor. Between 2010 and 2016, Chris’s role and responsibilities included marine claims surveys and investigations, naval architecture expert witness testimony and support of international salvage operations, vessel design and operations, ship appraisals, barge, towing, passenger and fishing vessel surveys, audits and project cargo loss control marine warranty survey and engineering assessments.
In 2016 Chris joined Starr Companies’ NY Marine Loss Control Services team, and immediately prior to joining Aon, was AVP, Loss Control Manager for Hull and Marine Liabilities. In this role, along with day to day responsibilities, Chris oversaw a Safety Management System KPI benchmarking loss prevention program for towing vessel Owners/operators in addition to developing marine terminal, waterfront contractor, shipyard and marine cargo loss prevention programs.
Chris’s engineering and specialist loss prevention background bring additional technical capability to the Aon NY team in supporting Clients’ risk and coverage needs.
