Current Responsibilities
Darrin Kolbet is a senior claims professional for selected clients of Marsh’s throughout the United States. He is responsible for overseeing meetings between the client and insurer; building strong client relationships, driving discussions with clients, and liaising with insurers on queries and policy coverage discussions. Darrin is a marine subject matter expert on advanced complex claims, interacting with other market practices in order to provide strategic advice.
Experience
Darrin joined Marsh in 2021and has always enjoyed being on the claims side of the insurance industry during his ongoing 36+year career. A graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy with studies in Marine and Transportation, he has focused his attention to claims handling, investigation and adjusting. After graduation, Darrin joined Intersurvey Inc.; Hartsdale, NY where he field investigated damage claims involving bulk, specialty and general merchandise of import/export cargoes as well as damage to shipping containers and ocean going vessels for Global insurance companies. Thereafter, he joined Chubb Group of Insurance Company, New York as a claim adjuster handling Air/Ocean Cargo, Motor Truck and Air Cargo Legal Liability, as well as Protection & Indemnity /Marine GL claims. He rose to manage Chubb’s US marine claim and subrogation teams. Upon leaving Chubb Chicago, Darrin joined Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co. supervising their Midwest marine claims team. He became the Director of Hull/Marine Liability claims, including Warehouse Legal, Motor Truck Physical Damage & Cargo Liability claims for Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty. He rose to become the Head of Marine Claims for AGCS and thereafter, the Head of Specialty Claims overseeing Marine, Entertainment and Energy losses in the North American Region.
