Edward Carlson has been practicing maritime law in New York for approximately 16 years. For five years, he practiced with a leading New York shipping firm, with an emphasis on commercial litigation, arbitration and U.S. trade sanctions. For approximately two years, he managed a solo practice focused on U.S. trade sanctions, specifically the Iran nuclear deal also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, before joining a Norway-based P&I Club for approximately four years, where he focused on FDD, P&I and sanctions matters. He then returned to private practice for approximately four years, which included an 18-month stint as acting in-house counsel for a major oil trader. In autumn 2023, he joined UK P&I Club’s New York/New Jersey office as a senior claims executive.
